Dr. Stork's Parents Q & A

Safety is something that we all have to think about on an everyday basis.  When it comes to our children,  it’s always the number one concern.  When a mother is nursing her unborn child every precaution should be taken to ensure a healthy pregnancy.  Some parent may be a bit weary about applying plaster onto the mother as was this concerned mother....

I am planning a baby shower for my friend,  and for entertainment I would like to buy a new product,  the "Tummy Cast Kit."  Have you heard of this?  What is your opinion of it's safety?

The "Tummy Cast Kit" uses plaster of paris to produce a cast of the pregnant abdomen.  I have had patients who have used this during a baby shower and then had the guests sign it.  It is really quite a cute idea,  and when used according to the directions, in the latter half of pregnancy, it is safe.
